Message from the IPNA President

Dear IPNA members,

the recent and ongoing events in the Middle East have shocked the pediatric nephrology community around the globe. We deplore and condemn the atrocities afflicted on Israeli and Palestinian children in this conflict and deeply sympathize with all victims of this inexcusable eruption of violence and their families. IPNA is committed to supporting the needs of children with kidney disorders around the world and we are actively exploring ways we can help address the medical needs of children with kidney disorders throughout the region. Currently there are 40 dialysis-dependent children in Gaza with desperate shortage of dialysis equipment, water and electricity. The disaster relief teams of IPNA and ISN are exploring ways to help the affected patients by preparing humanitarian and technical aid and even evacuations are considered.
We will keep you updated as the situation evolves and may come back with help requests. In these times of turmoil and unrest, let’s remain committed to make the world a better place for children with kidney disease.

Best wishes,

Franz Schaefer
