IPNA Global Curriculum

In 2023 IPNA established a Global Pediatric Nephrology Curriculum Sub-Committee as part of the IPNA Professional Education Committee, aiming to connect educational programs in Pediatric Nephrology in all continents.

Pediatric Nephrology is a medical specialty based on the knowledge and skills required for the prevention, diagnosis, and management of kidney illnesses affecting children of all age groups, from birth to the end of adolescences. It also encompasses child health, which covers all aspects of growth and development and the prevention of diseases. The influence of the family and other environmental factors plays a large role in the development of the child, and many conditions require lifelong management and follow-up before a smooth transition to adult services. Doctors practicing Pediatric Nephrology require solid basic training in General Pediatrics followed by specialized training in Pediatric Nephrology.
The IPNA Global Curriculum Committee developed and approved the IPNA Global Syllabus, summarizing the knowledge, skills, and competences that fellows in Pediatric Nephrology should acquire during their training and that can be accessed to be recognized as a Pediatric Nephrologist.
