GREAT CARE FOR LITTLE KIDNEYS. EVERYWHERE.
Dear IPNA members,
we are living in an era of unprecedented medical progress. Innovative, targeted therapies are transforming the lives of patients with chronic conditions, including children with renal disorders that used to inevitably progress to kidney failure.
However, progress in our speciality is not advancing as swiftly as it could be. Due to the rarity of most pediatric kidney diseases, epidemiological and outcome information from registries and cohort studies is scarce and clinical trial expertise and capacity are limited, hindering the generation of scientific evidence through clinical research.
We strongly believe that the global community of pediatric nephrologists holds immense potential to address these challenges. By uniting efforts and expanding clinical research capabilities worldwide we should be able to accelerate our children’s access to new therapies. To take steps toward this goal, IPNA is launching two key initiatives. You may have seen the recent announcement for the Clinician Scientist Academy, which offers young pediatric nephrologists from around the world the opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully engage in clinical research. Applications remain open until September 30th (more information here).
Today, we are introducing the second initiative: the IPNA Clinical Research Site Directory. This project aims to gauge our members’ interest and capacity to participate in future international research collaborations. We invite you to complete a short survey, which should not take more than 10 minutes: https://de.surveymonkey.com/r/IPNAResearchSurvey
If you express an interest in joining IPNA’s evolving global clinical research network, we will follow up with more information.
Thank you very much for your support!
Warm regards,
Franz Schaefer
