Dear IPNA Members, Dear Friends,
2020 will be an exciting year for IPNA. The marked increase in membership to a record high of 1660 that we experienced in 2019 augurs well for the future of our community and the children and adolescents with kidney disease whom we serve. We will be rolling out a host of new programs for our members to participate in. This includes a menu of lectures from distinguished faculty in our monthly webinars, opportunities to participate in the different IPNA committees including professional education, patient education, IPNA-endorsed guidelines, registry, teaching courses and many more!
We will be encouraging more regional participation in the different IPNA programs, and will also expand our links with other Societies such as the International Society of Nephrology so that we can reach out to previously unreached low resource areas to try to improve care for children with kidney disease worldwide.

"There will be many challenges for IPNA during the next 3 years, including engaging more junior members to the IPNA programs, fundraising in a difficult global financial climate, using new technology to enhance our communications and educational missions, and collaborations with other societies to fulfil the IPNA mission worldwide to give better care to Little Kidneys. I look forward to working with all our members to map out and fulfil the strategic plan of IPNA and to increase the profile of our organization and its mission!" Says Kim about her new role.

“Though I was dreaming of a life as an infectious disease specialist, this acute need for someone with the knowledge and skill to care for little kidneys was strong enough to sway me,” says Dr. Chris Esezobor in our interview. Dr. Esezobor is a former IPNA fellow and last year he successfully signed up his unit to become an IPNA recognized training center.

IPNA Guidelines Workshop
Evidence-based Clinical Management in Pediatric Nephrology, an IPNA Scientific Workshop, is scheduled on September 10-11, 2020 in Taipei, Taiwan.
Evidence-based clinical management in pediatric nephrology is a challenging and major goal of our Society. IPNA has successfully begun a new initiative with the aim of developing “IPNA Clinical Practice Recommendations (IPNA-CPR)”, addressing important global topics in the field of pediatric nephrology. The first IPNA-CPR on steroid resistant nephrotic syndrome will be published soon in Pediatric Nephrology.
CPR-development follows a structured process and there is a great need for information on guideline methodology as expressed by the IPNA Regional Societies. In addition, the awareness of physicians, patients and their families of existing guidelines as well as their implementation is far from optimal.
To address this, the Best Practice and Standards Committee is organizing a scientific workshop solely dedicated to guideline methodology, distribution and implementation.
The scientific workshop will be held over 1 and 1/2-days with symposia, invited lectures, free oral presentations, panel discussions, and guided poster walks preceeding the 14th Asian Congress of Pediatric Nephrology.

Best Practices & Standards Committee Chair
