Joint IPNA-KDIGO Webinar: KDIGO CKD guidelines & CKD-MBD controversies meeting
Speakers: Anna Francis (Australia), Rukshana Shroff (UK)
Moderator: Eugene Chan (Hong Kong)
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is devasting for children, with profound consequences on health, development and quality of life. CKD care in childhood presents unique challenges including age-based assessments of kidney function, understanding disease trajectories, supporting growth and delivering development-appropriate care. The growing skeleton of children is uniquely vulnerable to mineralization defects and CKD-mineral bone disease has long-term consequences.
Here, we summarize key takeaways from the Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) 2024 update of the Clinical Practice Guideline for the Evaluation and Management of CKD, as well as the KDIGO controversies conference on CKD – MBD management.
